inSingapore: An incomplete guide to mooncakes this year

An incomplete guide because this is based on my mum and I going round sampling mooncakes from various places, and this list basically just mentions the ones we think are outstanding:

Best Assorted Nuts and Kam Hua Ham Baked Mooncake:
from Meritus Mandarin Hotel (Pine Court Chinese Restaurant)
We sampled this at a booth in IMM Jurong.

*

Best Black Sesame Paste Baked Mooncake:
from Shangri-La Hotel (Shang Palace Restaurant)
We sampled this at a booth in Jurong Point.

*

And I’m basically a traditionalist at heart, so… durian paste filling ? ice-cream filling? truffle filling? cempedak paste filling? I say why not just eat the real thing, rather than have it in a mooncake! But this next one impressed me.

Best Non-Traditional Mooncake Filling:
Beetroot, Red Wine and Cranberry Paste Snowskin Mooncake
from Orchard Hotel (Hua Ting)
We sampled this at a booth in Raffles City.
