Alice Sebold’s “The Lovely Bones”, Nando’s

Just finished Alice Sebold’s The Lovely Bones and I loved, loved, loved it.

Reminds me of Juno (the movie) without the quirky humour. Probably because the narrator is a rather intelligent, matter-of-fact teenager. Also, as with Juno, I think the fantastic writing is what separates it from others of its kind.

If you want to know more about the book and its writer, check out this review by David M. Kusumoto

Something else I MUST talk about: Nando’s.

We actually discovered this franchise some years ago in Kuala Lumpur. But what’s great is that we’ve now found an outlet at Plaza Pelangi, Johor Bahru, just across the Causeway. I believe there’s another branch somewhere in Tualang as well.

Their specialty? Chicken flame-grilled in Afro-Portuguese style.

What I like about Nando’s is that the quality of the food they serve is high. And of course there’s the special peri-peri sauce. Yummy!

The chicken, grilled to perfection, is served with a variety of peri-peri sauces, from mild to hot. I’ve also tried a few of their sides, and really enjoyed the potato salad, which is made with new potatoes. Their chips were done well – crisp, yet soft on the inside. The sweetcorn came in a rather small portion, but it was delicious.
